OBJ to GLB Converter

Convert OBJ geometry to a single GLB file locally in your browser. Preview the mesh and preserve selected physical dimensions; external textures are omitted.

Enable JavaScript to open a model and use the interactive workspace.

How do I use this tool?

  1. Choose a OBJ file from your device.
  2. Preview your model and adjust the settings.
  3. Create your output and download the result.

What does this tool do?

Geometry is packaged into a single GLB file. External OBJ materials and textures are not loaded. GLB output uses meters, preserving the physical dimensions selected here.

What are the file limits?

Models are processed locally. Inputs are limited to 50 MB per file and 500,000 triangles after import. Individual operations may have lower limits described below. Performance depends on your device.

JavaScript, WebAssembly and WebGL are required for the interactive workspace.

How are models processed?

Mesh loading and rendering use Three.js. STEP import and tessellation use occt-import-js, based on Open Cascade. These sources describe the underlying libraries; this tool's supported features and limits are listed on this page.

Frequently asked questions

Does OBJ to GLB conversion include my texture images?

No. This tool reads the OBJ mesh but does not load external MTL files or texture images. The GLB contains the exported geometry and default appearance, not the original textured appearance.

Which unit should I choose for my OBJ file?

Choose the unit used for the original coordinates. GLB is exported in meters: a model that is 100 millimeters wide becomes 0.1 meters wide. The numeric change preserves its physical size when the source unit is correct.

Does creating a GLB reduce the number of triangles?

No. Packaging the model into GLB does not run mesh simplification or guarantee a smaller file. Use Simplify mesh separately when a reduction in geometry is appropriate for your model.

Can this converter create animations or rigging?

No. The output is a static mesh model. The converter does not create a skeleton, animation clips or missing surface detail from the OBJ input.
